How to Protect Your Privacy With Your Vehicle's VIN Number

The way that Geico could theoretically get access to that data is when you go to a mechanic and they plug into the OBD 2 slot they are collecting information about your car including the VIN number. The fact that cars have a VIN is a bit of a blessing and a curse if you think about it right because it is a fingerprint essentially of that car. There's no easy action to know if there is any way of technically hiding that then once you tap into your VIN.
