The Rise of the Wellness Industry in the US

Halber El-Dahn developed the concept of wellness as an idea in the late 50s and early 60s. The hippie movement played a considerable role not only because of the alternative lifestyles and values that many hippies embodied so things like becoming a vegetarian or engaging in sort of spirituality but also psychedelic drugs. From the 80s to about the 2000s is the gradual transition of wellness becoming more mainstream. And the ways in which this occurs is really the adoption of wellness into a series of industries and organizations. This emphasis on personal responsibility and individualism can diminish that can be beneficial for people who want to improve their health.
