The Cult of Expertise in Our Politics

There isn't any problem at all in valuing knowledge over non-knowledge. People can be experts about the past, historians are experts about particular periods that they know about but nobody can be experts on the future. It is impossible even to get right what's going on retrospectively for a few quarters, let alone you can get it right as I say, decades in the future. There is no expert answer to that, there is only a political contest. expertise cannot allow us to choose between competing values. That's what democratic politics allows you to do.
