The Importance of Metaphors

Douglas Hofstadter thinks that all thinking is done through analogy. Everything is a chunking of category into categories and interactions with other people kind of have the potential to break your categories they usually don't only reify them. So there's something novel that emerges through these new connections right that you make a metaphor into, which can blow whole entire disciplines up. And so I think that a force has suddenly turned our sense of time upside down and so on.
