Scripting and Dynamic Programming Languages

I think there was this useful distinction that's sort of been lost between scripting and dynamism. Not all scripting languages have that. In fact, most scripting languages don't even a goal. It's a non goal. Even closure doesn't really go the whole way, right? So it's been lost how powerful the older dynamic languages were. I mean, there's really no comparison. One could argue the modern affordances in dynamically typed languages and modern is much better. But in terms of what was the philosophy, I definitely think a lot of things are lost.
