Use will to make a spontaneous or immediate decision, something you are thinking about right now for the future. For example, I am so hungry, I think I will go get some food. This is a decision that I have just made. We also use will to talk about future facts - things that will happen in the future. If we say I am not going to hurt you, it is possible, but it sounds a bit different.
