The velocity of mimesis is so much greater today than it ever has been. Things like pride and envy, in particular, seem to be at an all-time high on social media. Gerard thinks that this closing down of distance is ultimately a good thing because it binds by the fundamental Christian message of equality. This paradoxically has a radically dangerous element where he thinks of it actually in gender apocalypse.
