Learning From Your Own Experience

If i decide to study computer programming, i may make more money, on average, than someone who studies creative writing. You just have to sort of, like, look at, learn from your own experience. Is it possible to have conversations when you seem to be the only one that doesn't have a lot of shared interests compared to those around you? I would even go as far as saying, ah, that's when it's the easiest to have conversations.
