Polar bear pilot Nick says it's one of the most dangerous situations for a helicopter. When the sky and land look the same, there's no horizon. The pilot can't tell what's up and what's down. He's lost more than one polar bear colleague to helicopter accidents because of this. This kind of cold cuts through skin like a steely blade. If you're not dressed properly, there's a very real threat of hyperthermia taking hold after just 20 minutes.
