The Incorrect Number of Fingers or Toes on Nazca Ceramics
Japanese researchers identified water-associated birds on Nazca ceramics at rock art, textiles and musical instruments. One theory goes that these weren't mistakes, but that there was an ancient belief that under-enlightening caused birth defects in children. The other idea about the Arquio astronomy angle is that maybe it's not the constellations that they don't match up,. But they're also, I believe, like the Australian Aboriginal peoples, mapping the dark spaces between the stars.
