The idea that belief follows action is from the book the Believing Brain by Michael Sherman. If you do something then you will end up more likely to believe statements that go along with your actions so for instance if you i don't know pray in a church or something you're more likely to be positively predisposed to religious ideas simply because you pray and on the other hand if you do something like write an essay  and then sign it then you're more Likely to actually end up believing communist ideas.
