Hitler and the Confessing Church
Bonhoeffer was one of the leaders in the Confessing Church, a group trying to break away from the sort of not-sified state church. He knew early on that National Socialist Doctrine could not coexist with Christianity. Bonhoeffer spent almost two years in London as a pastor of some congregations and didn't know what to do with himself. In 1935, he comes back; they want him to lead an illegal seminary.
