The Importance of Opportunity and Outcome
The only way to get equality of outcome is to impose any quality of opportunity. The more economically free countries exhibit income inequality, and so do the less economically free states. When you attempt to impose equality of outcome, the people who are stronger will be held back by those who are weaker. That rising tide does lift all boats, even those who don't at first appear to be gaining.
