Hume's Skepticism
Kant's starting point is hume's skepticism, which we discussed in a previous podcast. For him, the basic criticism was that we gain all our knowledge through sense impressions. But he thinks it applies much more generally than hume realized. It applies not just to causality, but to a whole host of other what he calls categories of connections between phenomena.
