The Importance of Baccaria and Bentham
Baccaria and Bentham were most productive at the latter stages of what historians consider to be the enlightenment. The two radical intellectuals promoted democratic thinking in every realm from policing and incarceration to representative government and welfare. They understood the interconnectedness of social, economic, political, and legal disciplines that related to moral and democratic societies.
