The open letter is about doubling down on the same damn thing they have recommended for 25 years in these ethical AI conferences. It's always recommending top down regulations to control the entities rather than top down regulations that incentivize competition between entities, which is how those other five arenas work. We could do that easily by simply buying up used obsolete supercomputers that go obsolete every year on this planet and setting them up in secure locations. If we can make it so that there are thousands, even millions of them, who feel a sense of rivalry with each other, we can then set up a sixth competitive arena with rule sets. That would be an incentive for some of these to act as our lawyers
