The first books that the guys from Decode recommended to me were predictably irrational by Dan Aireli and How we decide by Jonah Lara. Those are, I think, what people call popular psychology now. But then I read some others that were deeper, such as Stranger to Ourselves by Timothy Wilson. They're still accessible, so you don't need to only work in academia to understand them by any means.
