The Origins of Magnetite

One hypothesis is that this is how load stone, which is a naturally magnetic material you can find here on earth was originally formed. Heat warps the material and makes the magnetic domains fall out of alignment. And way number three is you zap it with electric current. You just have to have a strong enough one to affect the magnetic domains in your target material. And then eventually you end up with a magnet. So that's kind of cool. But we do know that those are two possible ways that this could have come about.
