Convenient Fictions Are Very Powerful
Convenient fictions are all over science. They help us to predict the behaviour of nature and develop technology. But because they're so useful, we tend psychologically to think that they are actually true. We need a new convenient fiction in quantum gravity where there is no such force acting at a distance. That's not what gravity is at all. It's the invisible fabric of space time that bends and twists. And perhaps the sloop's back to some of the things we were saying earlier about our brains evolved for survival purposes.
