The Amarna Letters - A Brief History of the Late Bronze Age World

The amarna letters give us our most detailed glimpse into how the rulers of the late bronze age interacted with one another. They were found in a place identified by inscription as the place of the letters of the pharaohs, essentially a royal archive of diplomatic correspondence. Of the 350 letters, about 300 of them deal with egypt's administration of its empire in palestine and syria. Their letters to vassals, subordinates and allies provide instructions and guide lines on everything from trade disputes to the broader political situation.
