The U.S. Income Tax System Is Not Progressive

There are plenty of countries with simpler ways of filing taxes than the us. The overall effect of the american welfare and tax system is, of course, nowhere near as progressive as we would like. At least 30 countries do return free filing of taxes. And those of countries like denmark, sweden, spain and the uk. There are countries, notably in southern europe, which have even lower compliance rates.
