The Amygdala Is Involved in Anxiety Processing

Anxiety isn't brought about by activity in just one brain region, the amygdala. It's a whole fear system that's involved. After you sense the danger cue, that sensory stimulus and your surroundings are processed by the primary sensory cortices. That signal is sent to the thalamus, a relay center which sends the output to the amygdala. So this indicates that not only is the amygdala involved in anxiety processing, it's necessary for anxiety processing to occur.
