There have been reports of a surge of people coming to the border in anticipation of this change. The number of encounters that the border has gone up to 11,000 a day. It's impossible to know exactly why any group of migrants is crossing right now. And it remains to be seen what's going to happen over the next few days.
For weeks, officials have feared that the end of Title 42 would create a crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border that would strain and possibly cripple America’s immigration system.
