Are You Getting Richer? Or Is It Something More Grander?
There's no consensus on what causes people to want democracy, but there are several possibilities. If you're a poor peasant living on the verge of starvation, you don't really have any stake in the system. But then when you become middle class with a house or a condo and an automobile, you suddenly want to protect your property. The other one has to do with education that, you know, part of what you get when you get a higher education is you can start thinking for yourself.
