There's a belief that if you love what you do, you should be able to do it while not being paid a living wage and having to buy your own markers. Right. It reminds me also of just the way that we so dramatically underpay and under fund teachers in America. And it is the same sort of logic where it's like, why should we reward you for bad performance without an acknowledgement of like, did we create the bad performance?
