Researchers in Japan looked at an enormous data set that tracked 100,000 or so pregnancies between 2011 and 2014. Children households with dogs tended to have lower than average rates of allergies to eggs, milk and nuts. Those that shed homes with cats were more tolerant of eggs, wheat and soybeans. And those in households with turtles, terrapins and birds seemed unaffected either way.
