The Importance of Fluid in the Middle Ear
There's a little bit of fluid in the middle ear and it doesn't look at all inflamed, there is absolutely no indication for acute treatment. Fluid that patients get either from congestion in the head and neck that doesn't cause an ear infection or that's post-infectious can be expected to hang around in a healthy person who does not have you stationed to this function for up to eight weeks. After the infection goes away, if there's fluid hanging around, there could still be conductive hearing loss.
