How to Correct a Nickname

I'm so careful with my craft, but I'm just, you know, it's happened to me though. It happened to me where I had a job ages ago and I was like on a little local magazine in Bristol. A PR lady who reached out to me once thought my name was Tom. Even though I signed my emails, Dave. She would phone up the office and ask for Tom. And we talked about this. So they would put her through to me. And she'd be like, hi, Tom. You have the conversation. And then... Why not correct? Because I was like, oh, it's a bit awkward.
