The History of Funerals in the Victorian Era
In the Victorian era, funerals would have both a home and church component. You had to be invited; you couldn't just read an obituary in the paper and show up. The color of the Hearst carriage was traditionally black, but it could be smaller and white if the deceased was a child. Another big way the dead were commemorated beyond the funeral experience was through death photography.
