TikTok's Disinvestiture in 2020
The sale of TikTok would be an implicit admission that all the concerns you just articulated would be vowed. So it's hard to imagine a world where, at this point in the debate, put aside all the espionage concerns. It would not make any sense for the Chinese government to okay a disinvestiture or sale given that. They're all pointing to an increasing likelihood of an act of aggression from China against Taiwan and potentially by extension of the US. And I really worry that we're at a similar inflection point where today we're seeing Xi Jinping telling his military to prepare for war.
