CHAPTER

The Importance of Identity Politics

The author says there can be this kind of strategic essentialism fighting back to disrupt or deconstruct the naming process. identity continues to be a site of resistance for members of different subordinated groups i.e. black men, women and gays she writes. She also argues that power made me see myself as black it racialized me already and it empowers it as an anchor of subjectivity so I am de-racializing by racializing by saying i am black  by making my race more relevant not less versus i am black versus i am a person happens to be black.
