The Male Line to Stop Having Children

After the long fellow and Emerson generation the split between daughters never married usually becoming social workers and the daughters who just married lumber barons. I've looked at a fairly small group of families that were like they were like the Emerson's then maybe some of the broader people that others have looked at. It looks to me like what you had was well first of all they were just small and you have some bad luck and you know not everybody reproduces. A lot of it was that you had sons who were not in the institutions anymore a lot of the sons because we're leaving and doing their own thing moving away.
