The FCC's Investigation of Jim and Tammy Faye Baker
In 1979, the Charlotte Observer published multiple stories questioning the funding or lack of funding of PTL's international commitments. Baker had promised to provide audio and video equipment needed to create a TV station in Korea; he raised 350 grand specifically for that project. There were similar promises made to Brazil and the Middle East, and Jim Baker never delivered on any of them. In response, Jim Baker accused the FCC of having an anti-religious agenda.
