"This movie is really meditating on both of those things which is you know in order to be an artist at all you have to believe on some basic level that's the thing that you are creating is worth giving to the world," he says. "We see the dark side of that all of this self-indulgence depression like neglecting his daughter right self-hate self-doubt addiction like you know substance abuse right like that entire thing we also see the value of it in this movie and I think that the fact that it doesn't offer us like a neat and tidy conclusion about any of it is one of the things I love most."
