What Makes Sand?

Most sand is composed of quartz, which is the clear crystal sort of mineral. The second most common is feldspar, which is a milky white often. But it can have different colors as well. Why do they make good sand particles? Because they're very stable minerals. They don't weather very quickly, so they tend to be the types of rock minerals that survive effectively.
