The Distinction Between Conservatives and Liberals
19% of people who identify as conservative gave less than $100, compared to 35% of those who self-identified as liberal. "There's probably a worldview issue sitting in the middle of this," says John Sutter. Conservatives regard giving as something that is done voluntarily, while liberals tend to regard it collectively through taxes. But let's dig a little deeper because if it's not precisely speaking, a liberal conservative divide, but a religious, irreligious divide, now we've got another batch of things that, sensibly, we have to think through.
