The Impact of Innocence on the Soul of Society
People who are doing well believe that they deserved it, and people who are not doing well also to enternalize the idea that they deserve it. The elite becomes less aware of its social obligations than it would otherwise be because we have an elit that can tell itself 'I've worked incredibly hard to get where i am' It adds a kind of moral insult to the economic injury of exclusion. People respond to this insult by trying to find some one to blame who is not them.
