The Conversion Experience

The Christian part of my identity was shaped primarily in Macedonia, A.M.E. Church. Jesus was a dominant reality in black life in Bearden. The people walked and talked with him and told him all about their troubles as if he were a trusted friend who understood their triers and tribulations in this unfriendly world. Like the people of Macedonia, Jesus became a significant presence in my life. I do not remember the exact date or time I turned to Jesus as the conversion experience was called.
