The Hiss of God, a Whistle?

Take berg points out that the hebrew word for whistle here leaves some room for interpretation. Some argue that what we're talking about is indeed a whistle, but others say that it is a hiss, the hiss of god. In antiquity, this difference was apparently felt as too slight for differentiation between the two sounds and for the establishment of separate terminology. The lack of differentiation continues in some of the daughter languages. We're getting into, breath language here, n breath related sounds.
