The Parallel Processing of Speech Sounds in the Brain
Eddie: Up until now, I hadn't come across a study that really explained how it's possible that all of these different sounds get processed at the same time without them interfering with one another. And also keeping track of the order with which all of those sounds actually entered into the ear is two very important things your system needs to do in order to be able to correctly figure out what people are saying. The work suggests that there's a high degree of parallel processing going on.
