The Asharites' Theory of Acquisition

Al-Ashari put forward what he called the theory of acquisition. The basic idea is that even if God creates an evil action, a human can be morally responsible for it by acquiring it. This doctrine is often dismissed as mere playing with words, but in fact it makes a good deal of sense.
