interpretability research is this idea that ideally we'll be able to look inside the brains of these neural networks and see what thoughts they're having. What do you think of interpretability research? I'm pretty excited about it. I'm also pretty confused about it. It's not clear how much clean crisp stuff we can get out of them. Like maybe it's fine to just have a big messy pile of like little random bits inside the model or maybe that makes it very hard to tell what's going on.
