Made You Think

CHAPTER

Is There a Replicator?

The next cool thing to cover here is kind of in chapter six about universality. Where he talks about how some ideas and concepts can just be useful and functional in a local sense, but then certain things make the jump to actually being universal and effectively infinite. He gives the example of numerals and numbers. So like the Roman numeral system was never really universal because it would require additional numerals to continue to represent higher numbers. They just never needed to count that. It was one of those societies where they basically said that anything above, I think it was like 4000. The very similar processes. Right.
