The Power of Self-Invention

Kierkegaard was a big proponent of irony at least he might have been a proponent ironically. I think the best practitioners of self-invention are those who use it in a limited way to shed light on things that are perhaps arbitrary or rooted in custom. We can explore what is true precisely by calling attention to ways in which life including like human social life requires forms of artifice.
