There are really only four beneficiaries of stock market volatility historically. Treasuries tend to be the best because there's yield. If you're wrong in your signal and you play defense with Treasuries, you still have a chance of making money. I suspect gold will continue to do well. Gold is the ultimate diverse fire, the ultimate non-correlated asset in a portfolio.
