The Importance of Active Listening
There's this idea called reactance, which is the uncomfortable sense that we're being pushed in a certain direction. If we can instead separate ourselves from our thoughts and our emotions and we can both examine them together, then we don't experience that reactance because it's not about changing me. It's about changing that emotion. I want to finish up with the term that I hear a lot. And in the context of what we discussed today, I wonder what it means or if it's actually important and that is active listening. You know, you are actively listening and maybe that's what we're talking about. What is the difference between that active listening and just listening?
