Is There a Difference Between Midrash and Hymnography?
In Jewish tradition, they have midrash. They have this idea of it's something like interpretation through stories. It's as if you're actually interpreting the main text by telling stories about it rather than doing just a strict kind of analytic interpretation. And so you see that also, I think in something like the hymns on paradise by San Ephraim,. You know, where the hyMns on paradise are this celebration of the story in scripture. We're actually trying to understand the event through this type of celebration and storytelling.
