The Rise of the XBB 1.16 Sub Variant in India

India is seeing a surge in cases that appears to be fueled by the XBB 1.16 sub variant. But we're also seeing cases rise in other parts of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. There's some lab-based data indicating that X BB 1.16 could have increased immune evasion and potentially some related to the capacity to replicate and grow. However, I think at this time we don't have any evidence that that will translate into major, major surges.
