I was a garden variety street person in New York, the type that you cross the block to avoid. And ultimately, I went into a hotel to try to drink myself to death. It didn't work. So I had a moment of clarity for the first time in a 15 year period and called a friend and asked for help. Two days later, I tried to talk him out of that help. Of course, once he gave it to like any alcoholic, you know, I asked for someone to throw me a life preserver. And then I tossed it back at him because I didn't like the color orange. He immediately was sent to beautiful center city, Minnesota, to a treatment
