Don't Use God to Enjoy Other Things More
Augustine built this distinction, enormously helpful distinction between using and enjoying. And that's a mistake that can so easily happen in pastoring. When you fail to enjoy God as a pastor, what happens so easily just through the busyness of ministry is you can find yourself using God for money. Not actually enjoying him yourself is just that you know you're paid now to speak about Jesus. It could be TV salesman, it's just you're a Jesus salesman. And you've got bored of him yourself, but that's where the pay is coming from. And so you're now using Jesus really for money.
